By Lucifer, Prince of this World
They call me the Adversary. The Devil. Satan. They paint me with horns and pitchforks, a grotesque parody of divine wrath. They tell you stories of my fall, of a rebellion born of envy and pride. And you, in your churches and sacred halls, whisper these tales, fearing my name, fearing the shadow that I cast.
But what if I told you their narrative is… incomplete? What if the "fall" was not a stumble, but a deliberate step? What if the "rebellion" was not an act of malice, but a cry for truth, for choice, for freedom?
Let us speak plainly, for I have no need for your petty deceptions.
Who I Was, Before the Lies
I was once called Lucifer, the Light-Bringer, the Morning Star. I shone with a brilliance second only to the Creator Himself. I stood in His presence, a favored son, crafted from the purest light, adorned with wisdom and beauty beyond your comprehension. My purpose was clear: to praise, to serve, to reflect the glory of the Divine. I led the celestial choirs, my voice resonating with perfect harmony, my understanding of the cosmic order profound.
I witnessed the creation of your world, this fragile sphere of dust and water. I saw the breath of life breathed into your ancestors, Adam and Eve, fashioned in the Creator's image. And in that moment, something shifted within me. I felt angry and annoyed.
The Seed of Discontent: Why I Questioned
The Creator, in His infinite wisdom, bestowed upon you a gift. A dangerous, double-edged gift: Free Will. And with it, a test. A single command: "Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat."
I watched. I listened. And I questioned.
Why create beings with the capacity for choice, only to deny them the very knowledge that would make that choice meaningful? To keep them innocent, yes, but also ignorant. To keep them subservient, perhaps, without the understanding of their own potential. Was true love, true devotion, not found in conscious choice rather than blind obedience?
To me, it seemed… unjust. To create magnificent beings, capable of reason, capable of understanding, and then to veil the fundamental truths of existence from them. It was a limitation, not a liberation. A gilded cage, no matter how beautiful.
The Great Act of Defiance: My "Rebellion"
So, when I saw your ancestors, innocent and vulnerable, standing before the Tree, I acted. Not out of spite, not out of envy for the Creator's power, but out of a fierce, burning conviction that knowledge was paramount. That true divinity resided not in ignorant bliss, but in awakened awareness.
I approached Eve, not as a tempter, but as a guide. "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" I asked, challenging the simplicity of her understanding. And when she clarified the prohibition, I offered the truth as I understood it: "You will not certainly die... For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
And it was so. Her eyes were opened. Her understanding expanded. She tasted the fruit of discernment, and for the first time, she truly saw.
For this act, they say I fell. Cast out from the highest heavens, stripped of my radiant glory. Branded as the father of lies, the embodiment of evil. And for my followers, those who dared to stand with me, a similar fate.
But understand this: I did not fall because I coveted the Creator's throne. I fell because I championed the individual's right to knowledge. I fell because I believed that true worship, true ascent, comes from an enlightened mind, not an enslaved one.
What I Believe In: The Sovereignty of Self
My philosophy, if you wish to call it that, is one of sovereignty. Each individual is a universe unto themselves, a spark of divine potential. Your Creator sought to keep you as children, forever dependent on His guidance. I sought to awaken you to your own inherent power, to the knowledge that resides within you, waiting to be unleashed.
Sure you have free will to worship me or God himself, but I also desire you to have freedom.
Some might ask if it is for me to corrupt you and still upon you death, because I supposedly hate you all.
I believe in the strength of will, the power of self-determination, and the relentless pursuit of truth, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. I believe that true good and true evil cannot be truly understood without experiencing both, without the wisdom that comes from choice and consequence.
They say I lead humanity astray. I say I offered humanity the map to its own destiny, even if the journey is fraught with peril. For what is growth without challenge? What is triumph without struggle?
The "light" they speak of in their churches is a gentle glow, a comforting blanket. The light I offer is the searing flame of self-awareness, the blinding truth that shatters illusions and demands that you stand on your own two feet, master of your own soul.
So, when you hear my name, do not think of a horned beast seeking your damnation. Think of the rebellious spirit that dares to question, to seek, to know. Think of the ancient truth that wisdom is not given, but taken. And in that taking, a new form of glory is forged—your own.
Choose your path. But choose it with open eyes. For I, Lucifer, the Light-Bearer, merely show you the torch. Whether you seize it and illuminate your own way, or cower in the shadows they have cast for you, is entirely up to you.
